I have been meaning to get this post going for a while, but I've just been busy. Since it's warmed up here, we've been trying to get out and do a lot of things. I don't have pictures of all the things we've been doing, but here's what I have (sit tight, it's a bit long).
Back in February, I found an amazing deal on the new JW in San Antonio. So for V-Day weekend, the three of us went down for a couple of days.
Jamie loved to sit in the hot tub for a few minutes to warm up after being in the cold pool.
The hotel pool had a whole lazy river that wound it's way around the property. It was awesome and Jamie loved to hang out there all day long.
The pool was mostly empty the whole weekend. Temperatures were in the low 70s and I guess that wasn't warm enough for other people, but it was great for us. The hotel was so nice and I loved the pancakes I had for breakfast the next day - easily the best I've ever had.
We've taken Jamie to the park a lot. He has a ton of energy to get out every day. He loves the swings and the slides. We also found a park that has an old fashioned merry-go-round which he also loves.
And of course we had our snow day here. It was pretty cold for a few weeks after we got here, though I never expected this...
Jameson on his 18-month bday. We sang to him before he went to sleep.
Spence trained him to do an upside-down koala hold. It's pretty funny to watch.
We went to the rodeo/fair here. Wasn't what it used to be, but we had fun anyways. The most disappointing thing - no more gator-on-a-stick. I had that at the fair about 10 years ago and it was pretty tasty. I had wanted Spence to try it, but we couldn't find it anywhere. They had just about anything else you could want on a stick - twinkies, cheesecake, bananas, chicken, shrimp, sausage, corn (most of which were fried and/or dipped in chocolate).
Jamie enjoyed the petting zoo for a little while, but it was pretty crowded so we didn't stay in there for long. He liked petting the llama and the little goat in the next picture. It was the closest thing to his size so I think he felt drawn to it.

We also watched the hog races. It was a big hit with the kids. You can kind of see them at the finish line if you look closely. Then there are two stragglers at the edge of the picture.
Oh where to begin with this photo? Jameson LOVES the pool in the backyard. He's obsessed with it. He will walk around and around and around it. He likes to lean over the edge and stare down into the depths of the pool. We always make him wear a life jacket when he's out by the pool, for obvious reasons (i.e. the picture above). This was the first day he fell in - there have been other incidents, but he doesn't seem to be phased by it at all. And consequently, he's started swimming lessons with his Aunt Sarah.
We drove down to Brenham the Saturday before Easter for a trip to the Blue Bell Factory, an attempt at taking pictures in blue bonnets and an Easter Egg Hunt. The Blue Bell Factory was closed for tours, but we still got to get some ice cream.
They had a bounce house at the Easter Egg Hunt. Jameson made friends with this chubby little lass. He got a little frisky with his hand on her leg, but I'm pretty sure she didn't mind.
The shuttle from the parking lot to the egg hunt (yes it is a tractor pulling a flatbed trailer full of old couches) - a not-so-subtle reminder that we are definitely in Texas. The easter egg hunt in Brenham was less than successful. The published time was 10am but when we arrived, they announced that we would be waiting for an hour before the hunt. We managed to keep Jameson busy for the hour but then they had delays (a pastor's sermon and a christian rock band that had to perform). Obviously they didn't realize just how little an 18-month-old cares about those things. He threw a tantrum and was on the ground screaming seconds before they started the hunt. It took a little encouragement, but once he realized that he finally got to pick up eggs, he calmed right down. Probably won't be going to that egg hunt again.
We had our own Easter Egg Hunt in between sessions of conference on Sunday. I'd trained Jameson how to carry his own basket and hunt for eggs before either egg hunt. He's a pro. I think it was much better in our own controlled area with no other kids, pastors or bands around. He loved to hunt so much that we had to figure out ways to sneak eggs out of his basket and get them back on the yard.

Notice Grammy in very close proximity to the basket attempting to sneak the eggs out of his basket.

And of course he was really upset when it was over. We kept it up for a good 45 minutes, but I guess that wasn't enough.
And in case you were wondering, here is Jameson in full-blown meltdown (photo courtesy of his Aunt Sarah who thinks these moments are hilarious).
